Some of the main reasons we have such clean water at Smith Lake is because not only do many main creeks run into Smith from water filtered by the Bankhead National Forest, but we have the Sipsey River which flows down the main channel of the lake. It’s a unique combination of natural effects which make this the 3rd cleanest lake in the USA.
